San Juan Mountains Backpacking Elopement

A Colorado Elopement — Full Send.

Mak and Max knew that they wanted to go on an adventure as a part of their elopement experience. They didn't want to have a lot of guests present for their ceremony, but they did choose to have two very close friends join as witnesses, which was incredibly sweet and intimate.

The first part of their day started with a sunrise wake up call at the trailhead. After a camp style pancake breakfast and some DIY bouquet making, we started making our way up the trail and into the alpine wilderness. A few miles in, we were greeted by of one of the most beautiful lakes we had ever seen.

On arrival, Mak and Max set up camp, got into their wedding attire, and hand wrote their vows in preparation for the ceremony. Moving at their own pace, there was never a moment to rush any of the process. Their ceremony was beautiful. Just the two of them, exchanging vows with their two friends as witness. As the sun fell behind the mountains, we took portraits as they laid in the grass, in awe at the landscape they were in.

The photographs, well, they speak for themselves!

Kind words from Mak & Max

We cannot express enough how much we love Lauren and Travis and the photos they captured for us.

My husband, Noah, and I had Lauren and Travis shoot our engagement shoot and our wedding. Some of my now most valuable memories are from their talent. They scouted spots for us before both shoots so time was spent effortlessly and efficiently during our time together. Which was important when we all drove from 4 hours away and woke up at 3 am to capture the sunrise window of light perfectly. They are just down for it all.

By the end of our journey together (around 9 months of planning—first, our engagement and then wedding) they truly and most importantly became our friends. We love them so much it hurts and will continue to support them until we need to call them up again for our next big adventure.
