From the Road to the Roots: The Story Behind Love, Lorraine

Every season of our lives has shaped the way we see and tell stories; and there have been many seasons lived. From photographing weddings all over New England, to living on the road and photographing adventurous elopements, each season has impacted, inspired, and changed us and our business. Somewhere along that journey, Love, Lorraine was born. A name that carries both the memory of my grandmother and the heart of why we do this work.

Where It All Began

When I first started photographing weddings, I assumed there was only one way to do it. A big guest list, a full timeline, and only an hour or so to be with the person you just married. But everything shifted after photographing our first elopement in 2016. It wasn’t about the size of the celebration, but about how it felt.

We helped our friends plan their elopement in New Hampshire. We helped them dream, design, and create a day that reflected who they were. That experience showed us what was possible when couples choose to do things differently.

Then came van life — six years of traveling full-time, photographing wedding and elopements in National Parks and small towns all over the United States. We built our business from the road, and our hearts found home in unfamiliar places. Those years were the foundation of Love, Lorraine — raw, real, and full of meaning.

Why the Name, Love, Lorraine

Growing up, my grandmother Lorraine was my best friend. We had Friday night sleepovers, shopping trips to the local mall, and phone calls before bed every night. She supported every dream I ever had — even the wild ones. When I told her I was building out a van to live in and travel the country, she couldn’t wait to see the memories I would create in some of the places that her and my grandfather, Poppy traveled to.

Lorraine, who everyone called “Nanny,” fiercely believed in stepping out of your comfort zone, doing things on your terms, and living life to the fullest. And that’s everything Love, Lorraine stands for today.

Although Lorraine passed in June of 2019, our business is a tribute to an incredible person who cheered me on through every milestone, every heartache, and every failure, shaping me into the person I am today. When we work with couples like you, Lorraine is always there to guide and inspire us. That way, the memories and photos you have of your wedding or elopement day will reflect who you are and the legacy you want to leave behind — just like the photos we have of Lorraine do.

Evolving With the Seasons

When we first rebranded as Love, Lorraine, we were in the middle of our adventure elopement chapter. It made perfect sense. We were living on the road, inspired by nature, documenting couples who wanted to create something personal and completely unique. It was a season of discovery, both in our art and in ourselves.

But as life has shifted, so has our vision. We’ve traded van life for a slower rhythm, built roots in Colorado, and have grown into new ways of seeing and creating. We’ve realized that adventure doesn’t always mean hiking ten miles or saying vows on a cliff. Sometimes, it means gathering with your closest people around a long dinner table, celebrating with meaning, and being fully present with the people you keep close.

We’ve started to come back to our roots. Photographing not just elopements, but intentional weddings and gatherings that feel deeply personal. The kind where love and presence takes center stage, where every detail has a purpose, and couples aren’t afraid to design their day around what truly matters to them.

Where We’re Headed

As Love, Lorraine continues to evolve, we’re feeling that familiar pull toward transformation again. Not in name, but in art. We’ve been quietly refining the way our work looks and feels, and shifting what we offer couples. It’s more intentional, more emotional, and a reflection of this new season we’re in.

While every version of Love, Lorraine has been shaped by where we are in life, the heart behind it all has remained the same: to document love in its truest, most human form. This next chapter feels like coming home again. Different, but deeply familiar. And we can’t wait to share what’s next.

We’ve been quietly reimagining our visual identity to reflect this evolution; the next layer of Love, Lorraine. It feels softer, deeper, and more connected to honoring the legacy of Lorraine. We can’t wait to share this evolution with all of you.
